Thropton makes a great lounge sock, and an alternative to a slipper. It’s chunky and textured and wrinkles down for maximum comfort, perfect for snuggling by the fire.

Written for an average UK 6 adult foot,  but it’s very easily adapted to fit larger or slightly smaller sizes.

You will need: 

A set of 4 or 5 DPN’s or a Circular needle ( approx. 30cm/12 in length) 6mm ( US 10 )

Stitch markers and holders, tapestry needle for toe seam.

Yarn approx. 2-2 ½ 100g skeins or 212-234m of chunky weight BareFaced a British Wool Alpaca blend  80%/20% available @jostorieknits

Skill level: Intermediate - Experienced

Techniques:

You will need to be able to work in the round, work a twisted rib and cable patterns and (although optional) the grafting technique known as Kirschener st. This is a top down sock.

Measurements:

Written for one size but can be adjusted, will stretch to fit

Circumference at foot: 26cm/10 in

Length to heel 35cm /13in

Foot length from heel 20cm/ 8in

Tension:

In pattern using 6mm (US 10): 20sts x  17rows
