A classic snug fit unisex beanie in stocking stitch
This is a great project for a new knitter or simply for a quick knit
Ability: Beginner
You will need:
- One pair 3 ½ mm (U.S 4 ) straight needle
- Tapestry needle for sewing up
- Yarn approx 50g:55g:60g of Double Knit weight yarn (110:120:130m/120:132:142 yards)
- Waste yarn in DK weight in a contrasting colour approx. 5m/6y

Techniques and skills used
This beanie has been written for flat knitting but is easily adapted for circular or DPN knitting, the other skills you’ll need are a simple rib and decreasing techniques. We’ve used the tubular cast on technique but you could just as easily use your own cast on method. [check out our tutorial on working a tubular cast on here]
Tension/ Gauge:
In St St using 3.5mm (U.S 4) needles: 22sts x 28 rows in 10 x 10cm (4”x 4”)
Adjust your needle size to match this tension.
Sizes to fit - UNISEX
Size 1 - Child Circumference to fit up to 18 in/ 46cm
Size 2 - Adult (S-M) Circumference to fit 21- 22 in / 53 - 56cm
Size 3 - Adult (M-L) Circumference to fit 22- 23 in / 56 - 58cm
