Portobello pattern

An all over lace stitch crewneck sweater with double jersey cuffs.

Great thrown over a bikini or worn with a contrast coloured vest.  A slouchy fit and a great layering option as the seasons change.

Intermediate level

Skills required: you will need to be able to work a simple lace stitch and tubular hem and be able to pick up stitches.

Materials

Yarn:  We used Wool and the Gang – Shiny happy Cotton  (100g = 142m/155y) – Aran weight for this pattern but you could use any aran weight yarn of a similar tension.

Quantities: 6:6:6:7:7:8:8:8 balls or see size chart for approx. total meterage/ yardage

Colour: Bazaar Orange

Tension

Using 5mm (US 8) straight needles  in lace  Pattern  15sts x 21rows  10cm x 10cm

Equipment:

1 pair of 5mm (US 8) straight needles

1 x circular needle 5mm (US 8) 40cm long

Waste yarn or stitch holders

Stitch markers or safety pins

Tapestry needle for sewing up
